The Space hosts the MICA Study Abroad to Italy group_

In conversation with the African Art in Venice Forum on the occasion of the Venice Biennale 2022.

 
 

The Space supports BIPOC+ students’ inclusion and belonging at the 2022 Venice Biennale.

“As the first Italian woman to hold this position, I intend to give voice to artists to create unique projects that reflect their visions and our society,” writes curator Cecilia Alemani. The 59th International Art Exhibition takes place from 23 April to 27 November 2022 and includes invited artists that are directly related to the vision of The Space for Creative Black Imagination, including:

Simone Leigh (Representing the USA and winner of the exhibition’s prestigious Golden Lion Award), 

Zimbabwean Pavilion -  Raphael Chikukwa, Commissioner, National Gallery of Zimbabwe, Fadzai Veronica Muchemwa (Curator), Wallen Mapondera (Exhibitor), Terrence Musekiwa (Exhibitor) , Kresiah Mukwazhi (Exhibitor) Ronald Muchatuta Exhibitor / Guest speaker in The Space (2021), South African Pavilion - Roger Ballen (Exhibitor), Lebohang Kganye (Exhibitor), Phumulani Ntuli (Exhibitor), Amè Bell (Curator ), Thuli Mlambo-James (Curator).

This event features African artists and creatives discussing the impact of the biennale in Venice in 2022.
